MY STORY

Hola, my name is Nancy. I was born and raised in Guatemala City. I have lived in United States for 17 years. I have been married for 20 years to my husband Luke, we have five amazing children, and I love to teach young kids.

I have been working with kids for more than 20 years teaching Sunday school, helping in kids ministries, teaching kindergarten, and now Spanish.

As Spanish is my first language, I took English as a foreign language in school, but I never became fluent or able to communicate in English until I was immersed in an environment where I was surrounded by English speakers who did not speak Spanish.  Within a year of being in this environment, I was being asked to translate.  And the more I did it, the more my English improved.

I would be honored to immerse your kids in the Spanish language. I believe that learning a second language open doors to a whole new world of opportunities, and the easiest time to learn is while young.

WHAT TO EXPECT

I will be teaching the alphabet in a manner used in grade school in Guatemala to form a good accent and help in comprehension of written Spanish.

I will use methods of sound repetition to help my students learn common spoken sounds within the Spanish language and develop pronunciation of words.

We will read materials that are used to teach Spanish to students learning it as their primary language.

Students will be introduced to the Hispanic culture through games, foods, geography, etc. so they can understand the widespread use of the Spanish language and relate to the people who speak it.

All of our lessons will be connected to the scripture which will reinforce my students faith and help them gain vocabulary that is useful in reaching out to Spanish speakers with the Gospel.
